Where does your mesquite wood come from?

Natural Fuel Company’s mesquite supplier is located in Sonora, Mexico, home to some of the largest and oldest mesquite groves found on earth.

Where do your cooking firewoods come from?

Natural Fuel Company’s cooking firewood supplier is located in Northern California.

How is Natural Fuel mesquite charcoal unique?

Natural Fuel Company works directly with Mexican producers to sort charred mesquite lump charcoal in a facility rather than in the field. This allows us to select only large pieces of charcoal to give you a more consistent burn. The smaller pieces are given to other retail brands. Our goal is to have the highest quality mesquite charcoal without the variance throughout the year, which is inherent with a harvested natural resource like mesquite charcoal.

How is charcoal delivered to foodservice distributors?

We deliver it shrink wrapped and on pallets for your greatest convenience. Because we utilize a sorting facility, we are able to palletize and shrink wrap our 40 lb. bags of charcoal when packed. The extra cost to sort, bag, and shrink wrap the loads in a nice, clean facility gives Natural Fuel Company a core competency which we believe is of value to foodservice distributors nationwide.

How large are the lumps of mesquite charcoal in your bags?

In order to reduce heat and burn variability, we sort our charcoal and select only larger pieces.

What does it mean to "season" firewood?

Seasoned wood is wood that has been dried for a year or longer. This drying process results in a cooking firewood that burns hotter and cleaner than non-seasoned wood.

Can you ship directly to my restaurant?

At this time, we do not have a direct ship program. Please contact one of our current foodservice distributors here.
